RDF Media, the producers of ABC's "Wife Swap" is currently searching for families to participate in a documentary style series called "Families Reunited". It is a positive show that aims to resolve major conflicts within families in a caring and sensitive way with the assistance of a professional mediator. I'm looking for family members who are at odds with one another and would like professional help to work out their problems. This is not an entertainment style reality show. This is a documentary television show designed to help introduce conflict resolution skills and mediation to the American family.
We are looking specifically to bring resolutions to certain issues: Adult siblings who have not spoken to each other in years because of family business issues, are in business together, or need to heal conflicts before the loss of a parent; a family member who feels they are the lone caretakers of elderly parents, or a handicapped loved one, have made many sacrifices, and getting no support from any other family members, etc. We are looking for these situations to be between adults.
RDF Media taped a pilot in England, which is getting critical acclaim for the respectful, and dignified way the families are handled. The story involved two brothers who hadn’t spoken in years; they were taken with their wives and grown children to a beautiful estate in the countryside with a mediator for a week where they were given different tasks, to open communication and begin healing. The show has been a great success and we are looking to do the same in America.
